According to the notice, the outage will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting several estates, businesses and institutions in the three counties.
In Machakos County, the blackout will hit Mlolongo and its surrounding areas, including Ngwata Phase 3, Mlolongo Weighbridge, KPLC Offices, Sapphire Business Park, Weighbridge Gardens, Kathangaita and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power said the maintenance exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen power reliability and improve service delivery. The company often carries out such maintenance works to upgrade lines and replace aging equipment.

Heavy rains to persist
The planned works come as several parts of the country continue to experience heavy rainfall. The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a weather update warning of day-long rains in most regions, including Kiambu and Machakos counties, where the maintenance is scheduled.
According to the latest forecast covering October 28 to November 1, 2025, rainfall is expected from morning to evening in counties across the Mt Kenya, Lower Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley, and Coastal regions.
The weatherman noted that areas around Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Nyamira, and Nakuru will continue to receive heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms. Residents have been urged to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone areas.
The department also warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots in the coastal, northwestern and northeastern parts of the country, including Garissa and Turkana.
Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to switch off electrical appliances during the outage and to treat all lines as live. Power supply is expected to be restored immediately after the completion of maintenance works.
