Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Wednesday, April 29

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in several parts of the country on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, as it carries out network maintenance works.

In a notice shared on its official X account on Tuesday evening, April 28, 2026, the utility firm said the scheduled outages are part of efforts to maintain and improve the electricity supply.

“Good Evening. The listed area will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (29th April 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power said.

The company advised customers to check the latest outage schedule through its online platforms.

The planned blackouts will affect parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Nyeri and Taita Taveta counties.

Nairobi region

In Nairobi, customers in parts of Spring Valley will be without power from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The affected places include part of Spring Valley, Bendera Lane and nearby customers.

Another outage will hit parts of Kilimani along Ngong Road from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Areas listed include Coptic Hospital, China Centre, Muchai Drive, part of Kindaruma Drive and surrounding customers.

North Rift and Western regions

In Uasin Gishu County, parts of Kesses, Kipsamoo and Cheptiret will lose power from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm.

Kenya Power said the interruption will affect Kesses, Lelmolok, Kipsamoo, Cheptiret and neighbouring areas.

In Kakamega County, the outage will affect Musaga and nearby centres from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Areas named in the notice include Samitsi, Malava Market, Malava District Hospital, Malichi, Kimangeti, Tumbeni and adjacent customers.

Mt Kenya region

Several parts of Nyeri County will also experience a full-day outage from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The first affected zone covers Kagumo High and Kirichu. Customers in Kagumo High School, Kirichu Market, Ndurutu, Kiganjo Estate, Kiganjo Sewage, Gachika High School, Kang’ong’a, Ndathi-Ini, Wangi Water, Rosa and nearby areas will be affected.

The second outage area covers Kiawara, Ruirie and Nairutia.

Places listed include Lachuta, Kiawara, Lamuria, Bellevue, Kabendera, Ruirie, Kariminu, Tanyai, Nairutia, Mugunda, Ngobit, Kariguini, Mahiga Meru, Matopeni and surrounding areas.

Another interruption in the county will affect Kangocho and Mwanda from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Customers in Kangocho Coffee Factory, Karumaindo, Mwanda Market, Gichathaini, Kiunyu, Thengeini, Bishop Kirima, Ihara and nearby areas are expected to be affected.

Coast region

In Taita Taveta County, customers in Mlundinyi and surrounding areas will be without electricity from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Kenya Power said the outage will affect the whole of Ndome, Mlundinyi, Tausa, Lukasinyi, Salaita and nearby customers.

Kenya Power usually carries out scheduled maintenance to repair lines, upgrade equipment and improve supply reliability.

Customers in the listed areas are advised to plan ahead, charge devices early and switch off electrical appliances during the outage period.

The notice comes days after new electricity charges announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), which are expected to increase power bills for consumers.
