Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Thursday, November 27
By Kiprono Keileb, November 26, 2025Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, affecting parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Mombasa, and Kwale counties.
The company says the maintenance works are necessary to improve electricity reliability, though the blackout is expected to disrupt businesses, homes, and several key institutions throughout the day.
In a post on X on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Kenya Power issued a detailed notice outlining the areas that will be without electricity for several hours as engineers carry out routine upgrades and network reinforcement.
Nairobi County
In Nairobi, residents and businesses in Lang’ata will be among the most affected. According to the notice, the outage will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Kenya Power listed several establishments in the affected zone.
“Muiri Lane, Panda Mart, Galleria Mall, KWS Headquarters, Langata Barracks, Jambo Est, KRA Langata, Shree Cutch, Samaj, Tamarind Hotel, Daisy Park, Dorothy Park, West Park, CALE Infrastructure, Phenom Park, Phenom Estate, Carnivore Restaurant, Carnivore Hotel, Splash, EPCO, Purple Dot Est & adjacent customers,” the notice reads
Another Nairobi-area shutdown will affect Busia Road off Enterprise Road, where customers will experience a shorter outage running from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.
Kajiado County
In Kajiado County, parts of Amboseli and Isara will also be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Kenya Power noted that several hotels, lodges, schools and businesses fall within the affected region.
“Jesbriquette, Sopa Lodge, Ngong Veg, AA Lodge, Mada Hotel, Kibo Safari, Ngong Narok Pri, Omra, Mbirikani, Parts of Simba Cement & adjacent customers,” the notice reads
Coastal Region
The Coast Region will also experience lengthy interruptions, particularly in Mombasa County along Kwashibu Road and parts of Mwembe Tayari.
“Germany Institute Mombasa, Polana Suite, Public Health Dept, Huseini Building, Cream Inn, Pwani Dishes, Ledco Ltd, Jebotel, Suki Electronics, Maskani Bar, Restaurant, Mwembe Tayari Mkt (Soko la Papa), KFA, Eastern Music Shop, King Style Uniform Centre, Chief Office Mwembe & adjacent customers,” the notice reads
In Kwale County, the Tiwi area will be off-grid during the same hours. “Dia Chisadze Pri, Coast Water Offices & adjacent customers,” the notice reads
Kenya Power encouraged customers in the affected regions to plan accordingly, noting that the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the grid and enhance service delivery.
