Kenya Power has announced planned electricity outages in several parts of the country on Sunday, March 29, 2026, as it carries out routine maintenance on its network.

In a notice shared on Saturday evening, the utility asked customers in the affected areas to plan ahead, saying the interruptions are necessary to improve service delivery.

“Good evening. Please be advised that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 29.03.2026,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

Nairobi region

In Nairobi, the outage will affect parts of the industrial area along Kitui Road and sections of Kampala Road. The interruption will run from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Companies and facilities set to be affected include Duff Engineering, Plastico Industries, Polychem, East Africa Packaging Industries, Kalu Works, Galaxy Paints, and Dodhia Packaging, among others.

A separate outage will also hit the BOC Gases area within the same time frame, affecting the company and nearby customers.

Central Rift region

In Narok County, the blackout will cover Narok Township and surrounding areas from 9.00 am to 5.00pm. Areas listed include Narok Town, Lenana, Narok Referral Hospital, Total, Mwamba, TM, Ngairamram, Nairasarasa, Nkareta, Ngoben, Milimani, and Majengo.

Other affected locations are K24, Polonga, Empopong, Eor Enkitok, Rotiankisiriri and Naisoiya.

In Kericho County, power will be interrupted in Kericho Township and nearby areas such as Brooke Market, Kapsaos, Muraret and Chepbigin during the same hours.

Parts of Bomet County will also experience outages, particularly Chebilat Market, Kipkebe Tea Factory, Sotik Tea, Blue Berry Farm and Moniere Estate.

Kenya Power advised customers to use its digital platforms for updates and support during the maintenance period. “For real-time updates, outage status, rebilling requests, token-related issues, and other self-service options, kindly visit our chatbot,” the company said.

Ongoing outage concerns

The announcement comes amid continued concerns over power reliability in the country. According to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), Kenyans face an average of 8.39 hours of blackouts each month.

The regulator said the figure, although slightly improved from 9.15 hours recorded earlier, still falls short of its target.

“In the period under review, customers’ outage durations reduced to an average of 8.39 hours per month,” EPRA noted in its latest report.

The data highlights ongoing challenges in the electricity sector, with households and businesses continuing to face disruptions despite maintenance efforts by the utility.
