Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Saturday, March 7
By Aloys Michael, March 6, 2026Residents and businesses in parts of Nairobi and Bungoma counties will experience a planned power outage on Saturday, March 7, 2026, after Kenya Power announced a scheduled electricity interruption for maintenance work.
In a notice to customers on Friday, March 6, 2026, the utility company said the blackout will allow technicians to carry out essential upgrades and maintenance on the electricity network to improve reliability.
“Good evening, please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption as outlined in the attached notice: Date: Saturday, 07.03.2026,” the notice read.
Areas affected in Nairobi
In Nairobi, the power outage will affect parts of the Taj Mall area along North Airport Road.

According to the notice, electricity will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Some of the locations expected to be affected include Taj Mall area businesses and nearby facilities such as Kitchen Professional, Jesus Celebration Centre, Fiveveg Trading Company, Borole, Caribbean Food Embakasi, Tononoka Paper Ltd, and Five Star Manufacturers.
Other places listed include Transami, Amicabre Travel Services, DK Engineering, Embakasi Village, Crafts Juakali Association, Dakawou Transport Ltd, Amiran Kenya, G4S Security Services, Duldu Godowns and nearby customers.
Kenya Power said customers in the surrounding areas should prepare for the interruption and plan their activities accordingly.

Areas affected in Bungoma County
The scheduled maintenance will also affect parts of Bungoma County in western Kenya, particularly around Webuye Town.
Power will also be switched off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the affected locations.
Areas listed in the notice include Webuye Town, Webuye Sub County Hospital, Satellite Hotel, Apollo Hotel, Nabuyole Boosters, Nabuyole Nzowasco Plant, Nyange Street Business Community and Main Street Business Community.
Other affected locations include Webuye East and West Police Stations, Malaha Salvation Army, Webuye Moi Avenue Business Community, Site N Service Estate, National Estate and Pan Paper Guest Houses, together with nearby customers.

Routine maintenance
Kenya Power regularly schedules maintenance outages across the country to upgrade power lines, repair infrastructure and connect new customers to the grid.
The company advises customers to treat all electricity lines as live during the interruption period, as power may be restored earlier than the scheduled time once maintenance work is completed.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are encouraged to plan and make necessary arrangements to minimise disruption during the planned outage.
