Kenya Kwanza leaders term Raila a ‘political spent force’

By and , February 11, 2022

Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders led by Deputy President William Ruto, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula yesterday took their campaigns to Nyamira where they declared the ODM party leader Raila Odinga a “political spent force” who cannot be trusted with the presidency.

Ruto said himself, Mudavadi and Wetang’ula had on several occasions tried to assist Raila to the presidency when he was younger and energetic in past elections but failed and wondered which miracles could happen now to make him win the seat at his advanced age approaching 80 years.

The deputy president said President Uhuru Kenyatta in a bid to extend his leadership after his retirement through the remote control is fronting Raila.

“When you keenly look at Raila, is he really capable of being the next president of Kenya who can handle the many challenges the country was facing?“ Ruto asked a crowd at Ekerubo Giitai Sports Ground in North Mugirango Constituency.

Ruto, Mudavadi and Wetang’ula termed Raila as a government project and asked Kenyans to kill his presidential ambitions during the August General Elections .

The three also hit out at President Uhuru whom they accused of scheming to use proxies to extend his leadership after retiring but told him his dreams and imaginations could be shattered.

Ruto advised his boss to keep off succession politics and stop imposing Raila on Kenyans who have the mandate of electing their own leaders.

Form next government

Ruto predicted Raila could be defeated the same way the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was floored at the Court of Appeal. He said that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance will form the next government and fix the country’s economy but not political positions.

“This Azimio group is only interested in changing the constitution for the sake of creating political positions but not addressing the economic challenges facing the country,“ he stated.

He assured Kenyans that if Kenya Kwanza forms the next government, its first priority was to fix the country’s economy by empowering the less fortunate in the society.

He said that as from December, all Kenyans could start getting free medical insurance cover if they won the elections which he said they were sure of a win .

Ruto also dismissed President Uhuru’s claims he was not part of the achievements which the Jubilee government has made adding that if anything much has been realised because of him.

On his part Mudavadi said Kenyans were sober and could not allow leaders who are being imposed on them.

He told President Kenyatta to learn from retired Mwai Kibaki who never interfered with the political succession when he was about to retire. Mudavadi said as a patron of Azimio and the President was planning to impose another person as Riala’s running mate.

“I want to tell Kenyans that President Uhuru is not ready to retire but because of the constitution, he has decided to use proxies and projects to continue running the country again,“ he told a crowd at Mabundu Shopping Centre in West Mugirango and Gesima in Kitutu Masaba constituency.

Mudavadi said  President Uhuru was planning to use the positions left by those who have resigned to divide communities when filling but told those to be appointed to reject them because they were shortlived.

“He may want to dish those positions so as to wit wink communities into supporting his Raila project. Reject those positions because his term is up and therefore there is no need to take up such positions for just four months “ he stated.

He termed Raila as a betrayer for failing to contest the seat of presidency after the supreme court nullified the 2017 presidential elections. Mudavadi said Raila has misused the Luhya community for too long and vowed that this time round, they were not ready to be misused again.

Wetang’ula said that once their coalition forms the next government ,they could review the CBC model of education which he said has become a burden to parents, children and learners.

He accused president Uhuru Kenyatta and security agents of scheming to intimidate them so that they can give in to his political whims but told them they were not cowards to be cowed and intimidated .

Nyamira gubernatorial aspirant Walter Nyambati and MPs Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango),Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Shadarak Mose (Kitutu Masaba), Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango) and nominated senator Millicent Omanga asked members of the Kisii community rally behind Ruto for the seat of presidency.

However the areas which Ruto visited appeared  to be strongholds of his right hand men in Nyamira county .

These area includes Ekerubo Gietai, Mabundu and Gesima which are stronghold areas of Nyamoko, Kemosi and Mose respective fully.

He later addressed a rally in Kisii county where he receive Nyaribari Masaba MP, Ezekiel Machogu to the United Democratic Alliance.

Machogu has declared interest in the Kisii governor’s seat.

“Jubilee party has fostered tribalism and started tribal parties. We want Kenyans to be united” Wtangula said as he drummed up support for Machogu’s gubernatorial seat.

The leaders, who later addressed a rally at Etago in South Mugirango  were accompanied by gubernatorial aspirants- Omingo Magara, Rachel Otundo, Alfred Akunga, Charles Matoke, Senatorial hopeful Okeng’o Nyambane and several Woman Rep Aspirants.
