Kenya confirms 47 new COVID-19 cases as total rises to 582

Kenya has confirmed 47 new cases of coronavirus, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced on Wednesday.

This brings the total number of cases in the country to 582.

Of the new cases, 32 are from Mombasa Old Town, Nairobi (11), Busia (2), Kiambu (1) and Kwale (1).

Eight more patients have been discharged, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 190.

“On a sad note, we have lost two more patients. They are two men aged 68 and 72 years. They both died at home in Mombasa,” CS Kagwe said.

The government has declared cessation of movement in Mombasa’s Old Town and Eastleigh in Nairobi beginning Wednesday, May 6 at 7pm.
