The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Friday announced the disruption of traffic flow along Bangali-Madogo Road after a heavy downpour.

In a statement shared on its official social media platforms, the authority noted that the roads were affected by floods and that areas in Bangali town such as Tula, Arer, Habakik and Kaabso were affected.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority notifies the public that traffic flow along Bangali – Madogo (A3) Road has been affected by floods. The affected areas at Bangali Town are Tula (31km), Arer (41km), Kaabso (46km), and Habakik (51km),” the statement by KeNHA reads in parts.

The roads agency further advised motorists to allow water levels to subside before proceeding with their journey.

The authority also assured Kenyans that its staff was on site to guide traffic passage through the affected sections of the road.

“Motorists are advised to allow water levels to subside before proceeding with their journey. KeNHA Staff are on-site to guide traffic passage through the affected sections of the Road,” the road agency added.

Heavy rains

The latest comes amidst an advisory from the Kenya Meteorological Department over the ongoing rains witnessed across the country.

In a statement issued on Friday, the weatherman noted that heavy rainfall is expected to continue across areas such as the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast and North-eastern Kenya.

Other areas that will experience a heavy downpour include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
