KCPE Results 2020: What you need to know

Education CS George Magoha is expected to release the results of this year’s KCPE examinations today on Thursday,15 April after meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi.
The 2020 KCPE exams started on March 22 and ended on March 24. A total of 1,181,725 candidates sat the 2020 KCPE examination, an increase from 1,083,456 students in 2019.
In the recent past, pupils received their results in mid-November however, the 2020 learning calendar was interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic which leading to the indefinite closure of all learning institutions in March 2020 interrupting learning for over 17 million students and pupils.
In 2019, the top candidate was Andy Michael Munyiri of Damacrest Schools, Thogoto, with 440 marks.
Three candidates tied in the second position, two of them girls from public schools.
They were June Cheptoo Koech of Sangalo Central (439 marks) , Sean Michael Ndung’u of Kitengela International School and Flavian Onyango of Chakol Girls (439 marks).
In January, the Education ministry promised that no child would be be disadvantaged in the exams.
Education CS George Magoha announced that the setting and marking of the exams would factor in the time learners lost during the nine-month Covid-19 shutdown.
