By , November 23, 2023

Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has declared that all examiners for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination of 2023 have received their payment.

Speaking during the release of KCPE results on Thursday, 23, Belio noted that the ministry prioritized the process to ensure the examination process runs smoothly given that the students are expected to join their respective secondary schools in January 2024.

“I want to mention that as the accounting officer of the ministry, we have paid all the examiners who did the KCPE examinations marking,” Belio stated.

He also went on to assure the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination facilitators will be paid on time as required

“I also want to assure my colleagues in KCSE examinations the ministry will ensure that they are paid within the time required for us to pay,” he asserted.

“Today is a special day as we celebrate more than 38 years of service. To my colleague teachers who have been on this journey, you are a special cohort of human beings,” Kipsang expressed.

Delayed payments

Early this year, the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) said the Kenya National Examinations Council delayed paying examiners who took part in the 2022 KCSE for two months.

“More than 50,000 examiners who marked the papers have not been paid their wages. This is despite the huge sacrifices the examiners made, “KUPPET chairman Milemba said.
