Kalonzo sets date to lead Mt Kenya and Ukambani delegation to Raila’s Opoda Farm

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has confirmed that he will be leading both the Ukambani and Mt Kenya delegations to Opoda Farm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, to visit the family and pay his tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

While speaking during Ngema Fest in Murang’a, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was present on Wednesday, November 1, 2025, he said that he will be leading a delegation to Opoda Farm, urging Murang’a and the entire Mount Kenya region to accompany him during his visit to the farm.

In the event that Gachagua was in attendance, who has been silent since Raila’s death and has not paid a visit to the family, sparking reactions, he did not confirm whether he will join Kalonzo or not.

Kalonzo stated that he is returning to Opoda Farm because President William Ruto can’t claim to be mourning the late Odinga more than he is or anyone else.

“Those of you who are able, let’s go to Opoda Farm on Thursday, in a style like no other. There is no way William Ruto and his ilk can pretend to mourn Raila Amollo Odinga; there is no way, absolutely no way. Those of you who feel you have a true inheritance in the 2010 constitution, let us all go to Bondo,” Kalonzo said.

This also comes at a time when leaders are storming Opoda Farm to console Raila Odinga’s widow, Ida Odinga, and to pay their last respects at Raila’s grave at Kang’o ka Jaramogi.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was the first to visit the home the day after the burial, on October 20, 2025, following Raila’s burial on October 19.

This also comes after Nyandarua Senator John Methu and his Kiambu counterpart Karungo Thang’wa paid a visit to Siaya Senator and newly installed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Odinga at his home in Nairobi to mourn with him following his brother’s death.
They presented two sheep to Oburu as gifts and vowed to bring more during their visit to Opoda Farm.

A section of ODM leaders had warned Gachagua against visiting Opoda Farm after remarks made by Mutahi Kahiga, where he appeared to be celebrating the death. However, the family of the former prime minister, led by Raila Junior, dismissed their threats, saying that everybody is welcome at Opoda Farm to mourn with the family.
