Kalonzo insists opposition’s desire for change is on
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said the Azimio leaders will not be cowed in the fight for electoral justice and reduction of the cost of living.
He said he will today release the names of their representatives to the bi-partisan talks at a meeting in Machakos.
Speaking at Kasikeu, in Makueni county during the burial of a Kamba businessman Pius Musembi yesterday, Kalonzo claimed that Azimio leaders were targeted for execution during the last mass protests.
“Dialogue must be sincere. We get surprised when people start yapping about issues. During last week’s mass protests, Azimio leaders were targeted. I have never consumed such a high amount of teargas in my life. Why want to kill people? We will not succumb to any compromise nor will we be intimidated,” said Kalonzo.
Death threats
Kalonzo further urged security agencies to investigate Musembi’s death saying he had received several death threats before he died last Sunday in an accident at Athi River on Mombasa Road.
Kitui senator Enoch Wambui also told off Kenya Kwanza leaders over claims that Raila was interested in a handshake describing it as unfounded propaganda. Instead, he asked Kenya Kwanza to influence policy that will bring down cost of living urgently. He declared that Azimio will fight for electoral injustice to the end.
“We will not agree to go to another elections with an IEBC commissioner whose appointment has been influenced by Ruto,” said Wambua.
Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzonsaid there will be no justice unless the servers of the electoral commission are audited. Mavoko MP Patrick Makau said that the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji’s decision to withdraw cases against those who were arrested during Azimio-led mass action was a demonstration that he was is being directly influenced by Kenya Kwanza government.
