Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit out at the Kenya Kwanza government over prevailing bad governance that has curtailed service delivery to the citizens who are currently grappling with the high cost of living.

Kalonzo while highlighting the challenges that Kenyans have faced throughout the year, criticized the government for subjecting the public to sufferings which will even spoil the celebrations synonymous with Christmas festivities.

“We remain conscious of the hard times facing a majority of Kenyans, both as individuals and families this year. It has been a very difficult season marked by unemployment, heavy taxation, confusion in healthcare, lack of direction in education because of unclear direction in the rushed implementation of the CBC education, oppressive university education funding, insecurity, impunity, State opulence, and a rigid government that does not listen to anybody,” Kalonzo said.

The Azimio co-principal went on: “The present regime stands for negations and reversals of all the promises and hopes of Jamhuri in 1963. The founders of our nation freed us from the yoke of oppression. This regime is keenly bent on reversing this gain by restoring both physical and psychological torture.”

While giving his pre-Jamhuri address yesterday, Kalonzo noted that the country is enduring a season of human rights violations, bad governance and escalating gender-based violence against women yet the government has not provided solutions to these ills.

Self-serving regime

“An average of cases 196 of GBV against women are reported every day. When this should be the week of celebration, therefore, it can at best be only a week of grave reflection. We are doing poorly; indeed, most poorly under the current self-serving regime,” he stated.

Kalonzo pointed out that the President William Ruto-led regime has been implementing policies that end up oppressing the majority of poor Kenyans.

“The Kenya Kwanza regime has been at once mischievous, ruthlessly self-serving, and intentionally oppressive. Its policies and practices throughout the year have been gleeful, happygo-lucky and autocratic,” he added.

According to the self-imposed leader of the opposition, 2024 began with the government selling fake fertilisers to farmers while the executive remained silent on the issue.a
