Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has given a detailed report of how the alleged ‘killer squad’ dubbed Operation Support Unit carries out its activities during anti-government protests.
Speaking at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Kalonzo claimed that the alleged squad which comprises five members drawn from one ethnic group is plotting a scheme to attack leaders allied to the coalition and other peaceful protesters on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Alluding to this, Kalonzo stated that the squad operates in unmarked vehicles that are always parked at the Traffic police headquarters located next to Kenyatta Hospital.
“Each of the five occupants in the Subaru vehicles are from one ethnic community and their mission is to assassinate Azimio leaders and Kenyans protesting against the government. It is a squad that will kill people tomorrow and in other protests to come,” he stated.
“These vehicles are always parked at the Traffic Police headquarters near the Kenyatta Hospital, at the Anti-Terror Police Unit and Nairobi Regional headquarters,” he added.
While alleging that the squad is heavily armed with lethal weapons, Kalonzo stated that the squad has mobilised its resources to interfere with the demonstrations.
“They are better facilitated in terms of logistics and transportation, remunerations, communications and weapons than the country’s official security agencies,” Kalonzo added.
