Kalonzo calls for urgent meeting with opposition leaders over Koimburi’s abduction

The opposition is set to convene a meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, over the abduction and release of Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi.
Issuing a statement on Monday, May 26, 2025, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka revealed that the purpose of the meeting is to assess the current state of political harassment and intimidation in the country by the Kenya Kwanza regime.
He condemned the MP’s abduction stating that if an MP entitled to security can get abducted in broad daylight then Kenyans are on their own.
“We condemn the abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi in the strongest terms possible. The Opposition is convening tomorrow to assess the current state of political harassment and intimidation in the country by the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“If an MP who is entitled to security gets abducted in broad daylight, it means Kenyans are on their own,” Kalonzo said.
Koimburi found alive
The MP was found dumped in a coffee plantation in Kibichoi area, Kiambu County on Monday, May 26, 2025.
At the time of his rescue from the farm, the lawmaker was lying unconscious on the ground dressed in a navy blue suit he was last spotted in when he disappeared.

He narrated that his abductors beat him up after picking him from outside a church in Kiambu on Sunday afternoon.
The MP’s wife, Ann Koimburi, recounted that her husband was accosted by two men disguised as worshippers, they then grabbed and forced him to a waiting Subaru Forester with an altered number plate.
The men were dressed in plain clothes and refused to identify themselves.
The motive behind his abduction remains unknown, however, police who have since denied their involvement, have promised to thoroughly investigate the matter.
