Kalonzo calls for calm after visiting Sammy Kioko in hospital

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Kalonzo Musyoka detailed his visit to Nairobi West Hospital, where he went to check on Sammy Kioko and addressed the need for a balanced and respectful approach as the situation unfolded.
“This evening, I visited Sammy Kioko at Nairobi West Hospital to stand with him and his family during this difficult time. Sammy is like a son to me, and I continue to pray for his quick and full recovery,” the statement reads.

He then pointed to ongoing engagement with local leadership, highlighting concerns raised by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and the need to ensure the matter is handled properly.
“I also spoke with Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who is deeply concerned by this unfortunate incident and is keen to ensure that the matter is handled fairly and transparently.” he wrote.
Kalonzo went on to call for a calm approach moving forward, urging all involved to focus on facts and avoid actions that could interfere with the healing process or truth.
“My hope and prayer are that this issue will now proceed with calm, sobriety, and a clear focus on the facts, so that Sammy can heal in peace and the truth can emerge without unnecessary distraction,” the statement reads.

Kalonzo further stated that the significant thing at the moment is the well-being of the injured Sammy Kioko and the dignity of his family, stressing the importance of justice being handled respectfully.
“At this moment, what matters most is Sammy’s well-being, the dignity of his family, and the need for this matter to be concluded in a just and respectful manner,” Kalonzo wrote.
Sammy Kioko clashes with Machakos officials over unpaid dues, claims mistreatment
Sammy Kioko’s row with the county government of Machakos has deepened, with the comedian saying that he was mishandled when he went to demand payments.
The comedian staged another sit-down and captured his ordeal in a video, giving the public a rare glimpse of what he goes through every other time he goes to demand his money.

Kioko camped at the offices on Monday, February 17, 2026 and shared a video which revealed how he was mishandled by the Minister.
The video captures the Machakos Minister in Charge of Finance angrily dismissing Kioko, with the comedian noting with concern that a leader who should listen to him and help in resolving the matter was the same one losing her temper and shouting and dismissing them.
