Kalonzo accuses Ruto allies over IEBC
By Rawlings Otieno, January 16, 2025
Opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sensationally claimed those blocking the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), are puppets of President William Ruto.
In a stunning revelation and without tabling any evidence, Kalonzo claimed those acting as barriers to the establishment of the IEBC selection panel bear the highest responsibility in the current constitutional crisis and are attempting to pre-rig the 2027 General Elections.
“We will not allow that to happen. We will, however, wait for the January 21 judgement by the courts before announcing citizen actions. We have been very clear and consistent and followed the law at all times. Those who are barriers to the establishment of the selection panel are puppets of President Ruto,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo flanked by a host of his lieutenants at his SKM Command Centre announced the expulsion of Daadab lawmaker Farah Maalim from the Wiper party for what he termed as gross misconduct and use of condescending words against women in the country.
“For avoidance of doubt, Farah Maalim stands expelled from Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party for violating the Constitution and the rights of Kenyans,” said Kalonzo.
This is after Maalim during a recent development tour in the company of President Ruto and other leaders used unprintable words against the youth and the women.
“When you see everything progressing and then some fools say ‘Kasongo Ruto must go’. To hell with those who say that! Is he sitting in your mother or father’s seat? He is sitting in our seat, and we will re-elect him; we will deliver 99 per cent or even 100 per cent. We are saying Ruto will stay until 2032,” said Maalim, adding unprintable insults directed towards youthful Kenyans.
Trending news
Last year, at the height of the Gen Z protests against the 2024 Finance Bill, the Daadab MP was trending on local news channels for all the wrong reasons again.
Speaking in his local Somali dialect, the former National Assembly Deputy Speaker was quoted saying if he was Kenya’s Head of State, he would have clamped down ruthlessly on the youthful demonstrators and could “even have killed 5000 of them each day.”
This even as the Wiper leader demanded the immediate release of the remaining abductees, adding that they expect that the Kenya Kwanza regime will not engage in any more abductions or illegal operations. “If President Ruto refuses to respect and enforce Kenya’s Constitution and laws, the solution is straightforward: He should resign. Meanwhile, let Ruto and all others who perpetrate violent crimes against Kenyans know that they will not go unpunished.”
According to Kalonzo, the revelations by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi on the identity of the Commander-in-Chief of the Abduction Squads is quite telling.
On Sunday Muturi, in a stunning revelation outlined in shocking detail the harrowing tale of his son Leslie Muturi’s abduction on June 22, 2024 while in the company of Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje and driver Marangu Imanyara.
Muturi, who was serving as the Attorney General at the time of his son’s abduction, said he had been waiting for answers for the last six months as to why his son was abducted.
