Former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile, who died last Sunday, will be buried in his rural home in Mbui Nzau, Kibwezi on Friday next week.

A burial planning committee, chaired by Kibwezi MP Patrick Musimba and co-ordinated by Machakos Chief of staff Mwengi Mutuse, appealed for contributions towards funeral expenses.

“The committee appeals to leaders and members of the public to make material and in-kind contributions in order to give Hon. Ndile a dignified send-off,” the committee said in a statement.

The committee yesterday held its first meeting at Kalembe’s home at Green Park Estate in Mavoko.

Funeral sub-committee meetings will be held at his Mbui Nzau home, Machakos Beach Hotel, his Syokimau home, 3D Hotel in Mlolongo, Inter-County Hotel and Portland in Athi River.

Other burial coordinators are Makueni Woman Rep Rose Museo, Kiema Mwandia, who is a director at Tanathi Water Services Board, Makueni Chief Officer Musyoka Kivungi and Andrew Ndioki, a family member.

Ndile, who is credited for establishment of Kalembe Raha settlement scheme will be remembered for fighting for the rights of squatters.
