Marurui residents in Kajiado County were yesterday empowered with relevant information on hand washing and how to maintain basic hygiene in prevention against coronavirus disease.
Speaking during the burial of a Maasai elder at Marurui village in Kajiado county, Women in Business vice president Asha Hersi Moghe said the marginalised and the vulnerable children are exposed to all sorts of life challenges, especially food contamination since they don’t have enough information on how the corona virus is spread.
“As you know, majority of these families are not able to put food on the table and are not empowered on how to keep the virus at bay. Therefore, we at Asha Hersi Foundation have joined hands not only by providing them with food, but also train them on hand washing basics and sanitising before handling food,” she said.
The foundation distributed foodstuff, water, hand sanitisers and face masks.
Kenya, which reported its first case of Covid-19 on March 13, 2020, is the fourth most affected country by the pandemic in the East and Horn of Africa region, only behind Djibouti, Sudan and Somalia.
