West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has vowed to enhance public service delivery in 2024 by being more responsive in addressing issues raised by residents.

Speaking during the New Year celebrations which were held at Chelanga Gardens, Makutano town in West Pokot County, the Governor said the people of West Pokot elected their leaders with the expectation that they would diligently serve them.

Kachapin said that in his one and half years in office after the 2022 election, significant progress had been made in various sectors of the economy, including health, agriculture, roads and water.
He expressed his gratitude to the residents for their support and collaboration, which, he said, had resulted in progress.

No laxity

The county boss said that he had held discussions with members of the County Executive Committee and they reached an agreement that this year, providing better services to residents will be a priority.

“We have agreed that there will be no laxity in service delivery and we will work together so that we improve the lives of people of West Pokot County,’’ said the Governor.

Kachapin thanked national leaders, including Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto and West Pokot County Woman Representative Rael Aleutum for their participation in the New Year celebrations.

He also emphasised the importance of the leaders’ effective coordination, which, he said, had facilitated smooth delivery of services by the county government.

He urged leaders and residents to continue working together to promote development.
Kachapin noted his commitment to collaborating with residents and leaders to address issues of insecurity and other challenges facing the county.

He also promised to give out bursaries to support learners from underprivileged background to ensure no child drops out of school.
