Junior Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche has revealed the provisional squad for the upcoming two-legged qualification round against DR Congo in the quest for the second round of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in February.

The Madira Girls’ representatives in the squad include Effie Awuor, Grace Mumo, Kimberly Akinyi, Brenda Awuor, Valerie Nekesa, and Catherine Wambui.

Junior Starlets squad

Wiyeta Girls contribute Velma Abwire, Lorine Ilavonga, Rose Nangila, and Bridgit Maria, while Butere Girls feature Dorcas Glender, Judith Nandwa, Lornah Faith, JoyAngela Valencia, and Diana Anyango.

The first leg is scheduled to take place in DR Congo on Sunday, February 4, 2024, followed by the second leg at home on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

The 30 selected players will commence their camp on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. The victor of the two-legged encounter, determined by aggregate score, will advance to the third round.

Cheche, a former Kenyan International, was appointed as the Head Coach for the Kenya U17 Women’s National Team on Monday.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officially confirmed Cheche’s leadership, with Ann Aluoch as the appointed assistant coach.

Both Cheche and Aluoch hold the CAF B license. Presently, Cheche also serves as the assistant coach for the senior women’s national team, Harambee Starlets, while Ann Aluoch fulfills the role of assistant coach for the U15 women’s national team.
