Jubilee Party kicks off mass member mobilization
The Jubilee Party has kicked off a mass member mobilisation and registration campaign as part of a plan aimed at re-energising the party.
This comes after deliberations by the National Executive Council (NEC) held at the party headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, October 30, 2025, chaired by the party leader, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who joined the meeting virtually.

According to a statement released by the party’s Secretary-General, Jeremiah Kioni, the mobilisation plan is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots network and rebuilding public confidence in the party, which was in power for 10 years before losing in 2022.
with most of the leaders who were elected under the Jubilee ticket in 2017 decamping to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after the fallout between the party leader and his then-deputy, William Ruto.
“The NEC has approved a comprehensive plan to revamp and re-energise the Jubilee Party through a nationwide mass membership registration and mobilisation campaign. This initiative will focus on strengthening the party’s grassroots networks, rebuilding public confidence, and reaffirming Jubilee’s commitment to the values of unity, development, and democracy.” The Jubilee statement was read.

During the NEC meeting, the party also appointed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who had already declared interest in the presidency, as its presidential flag bearer and deputy party leader.
The Jubilee Party, which has recently caused confusion among Kenyans over its unclear position regarding whether it aligns with the government or the opposition, has now made its stance clear by expressing full commitment to the united opposition.
The party has authorised its flag bearer, Fred Matiang’i, to engage with members of the opposition coalition and represent Jubilee within the alliance as a broader part of popularising his candidature.
The Secretary-General also promised to officially communicate Matiang’i’s appointment to the leadership of the united opposition.
Besides clarifying their position in the opposition, the party vowed to engage with other like-minded political formations to build a strong and united Kenya.
Commitment in opposition
This comes a day after Fred Matiang’i publicly expressed his full commitment to the united opposition, saying that while they might have personal differences and occasional disagreements, they share one common goal: to ensure that the current regime does not extend its rule beyond 2027.

He also dismissed claims that he is a political project of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, following his decision to use the Jubilee Party as his political vehicle. Matiang’i said there was no reason for him to abandon Jubilee, having worked under it for 10 years as a Cabinet Secretary.
He further added that those labelling him a project of the former president are, ironically, the same people seeking to engage with him behind closed doors.
