Journalist files new petition against Chebukati, Marjan

A fresh petition has been lodged in the High Court seeking the removal of chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati, CEO Marjan Hussein and two commissioners over allegations of gross misconduct in the conduct of the 2022 election.
Journalist Milton Nyakundi also wants the court to declare Chebukati, Marjan, commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye as unfit to hold office and bar them from accessing their current offices for alleged violation of the Constitution and other laws and lack of transparency and accountability during the conduct of the August 9 polls.
In his court papers, the journalist accuses the four IEBC chiefs of violating and undermining natural values of integrity and leadership enshrined in Article 10 and Chapter Six of the Constitution, IEBC Act, Public Officer Ethics Act and the Election Offences Act while conducting this year’s presidential election.
The journalist says they usurped the roles of other four commissioners IEBC vice-chair Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi and staff in disregard to good corporate governance. Nyakundi claims that commission’s blunders started before Kenyans went to vote.
