Funeral arrangements
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s mother is set to be laid to her final resting place today in her Bungoma home.
Top government officials including President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are expected to grace the funeral of Anne Nanyama who died on December 27, 2024.
The family matriarch died aged 94, with a requiem mass organised on December 2, 2025, bringing Bungoma to a standstill.
Wetang’ula was brought to tears during the mass while his brother Tim Wanyonyi revealed that their late mother sold chang’aa to put them through school.
Janet Wanja
The late volleyball star will also be laid to rest at the Lang’ata Cemetery on January 3, 2025, in a private family ceremony.
Renowned as one of the best setters in the country, Wanja succumbed on Friday, December 27, 2024, to gallbladder cancer after a long battle with the illness.
President William Ruto on January 2, 2025, gave a cash donation of Ksh500,000 to the family of departed volleyball legend Janet Wanja.
In a statement during a requiem ceremony on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani Indoor Arena, Ruto noted that Wanja was a gifted and entertaining volleyball star.
