Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
House levy hearing
The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning is scheduled to hold public hearings on the Affordable Housing Bill, 2023.
The hearings will take place on Monday, January 29, and Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the County Hall Mini Chamber in Parliament Buildings, starting at 9:30 am.
this comes at time when a national debate has been sparked by the introduction of the Housing Levy.
Fact finding mission by NA
The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health is set to conduct a fact-finding mission on three health facilities within Nairobi City County suspected of colluding with rogue officials to misappropriate public funds from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
The hospitals under inspection include Joy Nursing Home in Eastleigh (9:30 a.m.), Beirut Nursing Home in Eastleigh (12:00 noon), and Equity Afia Buruburu (2:00 p.m.) on Monday, January 29, 2024.
Gachagua hosts governors
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will host the Council of Governors, state agencies, and top government officials for the 22nd Ordinary session of the Intergovernmental Budget Economic Council (IBEC) meeting at his official residence in Karen on Monday, January 29, 2024.
State of Kenya economy
The Institute of Public Finance Kenya (IPFK), an economic think tank, will release the State of the Kenyan Economy Report on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 8:00 am.
The report aims to provide a perspective on the current economic situation and an outlook for the year ahead.
