Ruto’s Western tour
President William Ruto is set to continue with the development tour of the Western Kenya region.
Ruto is expected to draw crowds of people in Khwisero today, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, together with a host of top government officials including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and a host of others.

Ruto began his western tour on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Bungoma and is set to spend the rest of the week in the region in what is seen as a move to ramp up support for his re-election bid after falling out of favour with the vote-rich Mount Kenya region.
Marburg virus alert
The Ministry of Health will be closely monitoring and giving updates on the state of the nation about the Marburg virus which was officially confirmed to be in Tanzania.
With five points of entry from Tanzania into Kenya; points of which several people come and leave the country with goods each day, the Ministry of Health will be on high alert to attempt to control the spread of the deadly virus.

Kenya shares three points of entry with Tanzania; which are: Lunga Lunga, Taveta, Loitokitok, Isebania and Namanga.
Equally, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Ministry noted in a statement that individuals who come into contact with patients of the virus will be identified and monitored for 21 days.
“Preparedness is being enhanced in the country through the development of Marburg Virus Disease preparedness and response plan, as well as conducting a readiness assessment to assess the capacity of the country to respond to a similar outbreak. Surveillance has also been enhanced countrywide in all counties and points of entry,” the ministry stated.
