Reactions to CS Muturi’s DCI statement

The decision by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) concerning his son Leslie Muturi’s abduction is expected to elicit mixed reactions.

While the former Attorney-General maintains that he believes in the investigative agencies’ ability to unravel the truth and deliver justice to his family, a section of politicians believe Muturi is in an all-out war with the Kenya-Kwanza administration.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Muturi arrived at the sleuth headquarters to record a statement on his version of what may have transpired during his son’s disappearance.

“Today, I honoured an invitation from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record a statement at Kilimani Police Station regarding the abduction of my son, Leslie Muturi, last year. This matter remains deeply personal to me as a father, and I am committed to supporting every effort to ensure justice is served. I have full confidence in our investigative agencies and their tireless pursuit of the truth,” Muturi said.

Reactions after CHAN is postponed

Sports enthusiasts are expected to voice their concerns after the Confederation of African Football pushed forward the much-anticipated CHAN games which were expected to begin on February 1 to February 28, 2025.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 14, 2024, the CAF postponement was done after advice from technical experts, who felt that the three host countries need more time for infrastructural preparedness.

The games which were to feature 19 countries will have to wait until a later date in August when the football body shall decide based on the preparedness of the three hosting countries.

“Good progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the hosting of a successful Total Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024,” CAF stated.

“However, the CAF Technical and Infrastructure experts some of whom have been based in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, have advised CAF that more time is required to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities are at the levels, necessary for hosting a successful TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024.”
