It’s been long! Uhuru, Ruto finally meet at National Prayer Breakfast event
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto met for the first time in many months at the 18th Kenya National Prayer Breakfast held at the Parliament grounds in Nairobi on Thursday.
This is the first time the function is being held at the Parliament grounds.
Their meeting comes after months of speculation on their work relationship given that the President has been apparently undertaking his government development projects in absence of his deputy.
The DP, who has been conspicuously missing when the Head of State initiates or launches development projects in the country, is on record saying his boss President Uhuru chose to do things differently in their second term in office.
This year’s prayer breakfast was pegged on the theme ” there is hope for the future”.
The event was held in conformity with Covid-19 guidelines as the venue only accommodated 40 seated guests.
Among other leaders present at the event include National Assembly (NA) Speaker Justin Muturi, his Senate counterpart Ken Lusaka, Chief Justice Martha Koome, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi, NA Majority Leader Samuel Poghiso, MPs and many others.
ODM leader Raila Odinga is absent at the function and was not included in the program.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe was to address the function to give an update on the Covid-19 situation but he missed the event and was represented by CAS Mercy Mwangangi.
