It’s a money issue – Jirongo reveals why Musalia, Kalonzo, Wetangula don’t trust Raila
Politician Cyrus Jirongo has revealed why principals of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) do not trust Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
In a recent interview with a local daily, Jirongo highlighted the sharing of political parties funds meant for the folded National Super Alliance (NASA), as one of the reasons behind the sour relationship between OKA principals and the ODM’s party leader.
“The fellows I work with have issues with him. They believe he has taken advantage of them. They believe he took advantage of them when it came to money,” Jirongo said in the October 30 interview.
Jirongo who is popular for his role in campaigning for former President Daniel Moi through the YK92 argued that Raila ended up with a majority of MPs in Parliament since he was NASA’s flag bearer only for him to short change his co-principals when it came to sharing of the funds.
“Being a presidential candidate he ended up with most MPs because leaders always want to associate with a presidential candidate. And when the pay for political parties came, he said he has the majority of MP’s forgetting that it’s the support he received from the rest that gave him the majority of MPs in Parliament,” Jirongo said.
The former Lugari MP further claimed that OKA principals have a problem fronting Raila for the presidency after doing so for 15 years.
“They also have an issue with supporting him for 15-years. He has always said five years. Are we mad to support him for another five to make it twenty?” Jirongo paused.
