Jubilee Party is upbeat of clinching the Kiambaa parliamentary seat and will at no time allow a defeat by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Kiambu governor James Nyoro said that while the ruling party is fighting to reclaim the position that was previously held by Paul Koinange who succumbed to Covid-19 in March this year, other parties are only interested in popularizing their political outfits in preparation for the 2022 general election duel.

Speaking after a burial ceremony in Gatundu North today, governor Nyoro who dismissed as untruthful an opinion poll conducted by a local daily and which stated that UDA’s candidate John Njuguna Wanjiku is the clear leader in the run-up to the July 15 by-election said that Jubilee is doing everything possible to regain the seat.

He said that the opinion polls were being conducted by their competitors as a well-orchestrated tactic of protesting results when Jubilee wins.

“We have absolutely no doubt that we shall win the Kiambaa parliamentary position. People should ignore the falsely steered opinion polls being conducted to show they are leading so that when we win, they will say we stole,” he said.

Governor Nyoro who dismissed UDA followers and leaders as propagandists said the Jubilee candidate Njama Wainaina Karanja Kariri was best poised to succeed Koinange and make prudent use of the over Sh 10 billion worth of development projects allocated to the constituency by both the national and county governments.

“Kiambaa people and interest in developments and not preparations for 2022 general elections. From where I seat, only Kariri Njama is able to take the constituency to the next level and I urge electorates from Kiambaa to support him,” he said.

Having been on the ground campaigning for Jubilee candidates, Nyoro further expressed confidence that the ruling party will win the Muguga ward seat whose by-election is slated to happen on the same day.

As the clock ticks closer to the D-day, Jubilee Party continues to consider the two by-elections a must-win after the humiliating loss of the Juja seat in May, while UDA maintains that their win will make Ruto the front-runner for the August 2022 presidential election.

The Kiambaa seat has also attracted other contestants among them Richard Njoroge who is vying on The New Democrats (TND) ticket, Evans Gichia, independent, Karomo Muchugi of Federal Party, Mugo Munyinyi, an independent candidate and Willy Mbugua who is also contesting independently.
