Inside National Assembly’s calendar for 2024
The National Assembly has approved its calendar for 2024 following a motion by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa.
The August House has been on recess since December and resumed its sittings on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
In the 2024 calendar, the parliament will run in three schedules from February 13 to December 5, 2024.
In the first schedule, the sittings started on Tuesday, February 13, and will run until May 2, 2024, when the legislators will go for long recess. The long recess will run between May 3 and June 3, 2024.
Before the long recess, the National Assembly will go for a short recess between March 22 and April 8, 2024.
In the second part of the calendar, MPs will resume sittings on June 4 and run until July 4 when the MPs will go for a mid-term recess. The mid-term recess will run from July 5 to 22, 2024.
The sessions will then resume on July 23 and run until August 15, when parliament will adjourn again for a long recess from August 16 to September 9, 2024.
National Assembly’s 3rd part
The MPs will resume their legislative duty on September 10 and have their sessions until October 10, when they will adjourn again for a short recess.
The short recess will run between October 11 and 28.
The MPs will resume sessions on October 29 up to December 5, 2024, paving way for the long recess.
The long recess will run until February 10, 2025.
The sessions will happen on Tuesdays (afternoons), Wednesdays (mornings and afternoons) and Thursdays (afternoons).
