Ignore calls for street protests, Kilifi leaders tell Kenyans

Kenya Kwanza leaders in Kilifi have told off Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga over his calls for street protests.

Kenya Kwanza loyalists including Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa (pictured), Deputy Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Owen Baya and UDA MPs urged Kenyans to reject calls for demonstrations.

Raila, who attended the homecoming of Kilifi Governor Gideon Munga’ro announced that preparations for the December 7 convention at Kamukunji ground were in top gear and told all his supporters countrywide to join in the protests noting that the government was heading in the wrong direction.

Jumwa said Raila should accept defeat and move on just as she did when she lost in the Kilifi elections for Governor post. She argued that the street demonstrations will scare away investors.

“It’s no longer campaign period, it’s time to work for the people  of Kenya, in Kilifi we are very poor and we don’t have time to go back on streets, we as Kilifi people have a lot of problems,” said Jumwa.

The CS said the ODM party leaders should instead go and sit with Ruto privately and discuss their matters to reach amicable solutions instead of taking the country back to the campaign mood.

Baya said Kilifi was not ready to be taken back to the campaign mode  as demonstrations would hurt the tourism sector.
