IEBC probes bribery claims in Nakuru’s London ward

By , March 3, 2021

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched investigations into claims of voter bribery ahead of tomorrow’s London Ward by-election.

Speaking exclusively to People Daily, Nakuru West Returning Officer Gilbert Serem said he was aware of incidents where some candidates were captured on camera dishing out money to locals.

He said that he had presented a formal report to the security organs adding that such acts undermines democracy in the long run.

“It is illegal and goes against election laws. I have shared the same with our head office,” he said.

London by-election is shaping up as another battle ground between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
