Hunt on for bishop who set ablaze human skull in bizarre incident
Police in Mbita, Homa Bay have launched a manhunt for a bishop accused of burning a human skull in a dramatic incident.
Bishop Charles Ododo of Roho Fweny led his congregants to Luanda Nyamasare Beach in Gembe Ward where he claimed he was directed by God to retrieve the human skull in Lake Victoria. The cleric has since vanished after Kasgunga East Sub-location Assistant Chief Francis Kasuku reported the matter to the police.
A police report indicates New Gift of God Roho Church Luanda Nyamasare had invited Ododo for night vigil Easter prayers on Saturday when he allegedly made a prophecy about the human head in Lake Victoria.
“He (bishop) promised to lead other followers in retrieving the head in the morning and Sunday at around 0900 hours, he led the believers into the lake waters and retrieved the skull,” the report.
“By the time police arrived, the bishop had left for an unknown destination,”adds the report.
Kasuku said the matter was known when residents started sharing the information on social media while others called him for intervention.
“I reported the matter to Mbita Police Station for further investigations,” Kasuku said.
The charred skull was kept at Homa Bay county Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary awaiting forensic analysis to ascertain whether it belongs to a human being.
Meanwhile, in Kakamega, a police officer is fighting for his life after he was attacked by suspected gangsters on Sunday morning. James Oludhe was rushed to Malava Hospital and later referred to Kakamega General Referral Hospital in a critical condition. He sustained a deep cut on the head and left arm.
Police report shows the officer was found lying down in a pool of blood having been attacked by two persons of whom one known to him while armed with a panga.
“In the process of the attack he was robbed of his firearm Jericho S/no. 44331170 loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm, his mobile phone make Tecno, unknown amount of money and other personal documents,” the report.
