Homa Bay MCAs pass Ward Fund law

By , December 2, 2022

Homa Bay Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have passed a motion to establish the County Ward Equitable Development Fund.

The MCAs unanimously passed the motion tabled by the assembly majority leader Richard Ogindo yesterday. In the proposed legislation, the MCAs are pushing to have funds for development in their respective wards.

Through the County Assembly Forum (CAF), MCAs across the country want to be given a share for their county’s budget.

CAF petitioned Parliament to anchor the Ward Development Fund into Law. MCAs also want some money allocated to them to help serve their electorate directly.

During the debate presided over by Speaker Julius Gaya, the MCAs said the establishment of the Ward Fund will spare them trouble with the electorate in terms of undertaking projects.
