By Collins Amanga, December 16, 2023
Homa Bay County Referral Hospital has achieved the status of a level-five health facility.
Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga conveyed the news through her official Xmedia account.
Homa Bay County Referral status
The new status comes with several benefits, including the hospital’s ability to conduct research, serve as a centre for paramedical professionals, and offer internships for medical students.
With this accreditation, Homa Bay County Referral Hospital becomes the third level-five facility in the Nyanza Region, joining Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) and Kisii County Referral Hospital.
“The Ministry of Health has accredited Homa Bay County Referral Hospital as a Level 5 health facility. This means the hospital can now conduct research, serve as a training centre for paramedical professionals & offer internship services for medical students,” Wanga stated
The governor added that this accreditation reinforces their commitment to providing access to quality, safe, and specialized healthcare services in the region.
“Our facility joins JOOTRH (Kisumu), and Kisii County Referral Hospital as the only Level 5 hospitals in the region. It reaffirms our commitment to providing access to quality, safe & specialized healthcare services,” Wanga added.
