The government has announced new half-term dates for the pre-primary, primary and secondary schools in Kenya.

In a statement, the Ministry of Education advised all county education directors to observe a change in the previous dates set by the government.

All learners will break for half-term on June 26, 2024, to June 28, 2024, according to the new announcement made by Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang.

Previously, the half-term dates were set to run between June 20, 2024, to June 23, 2024.

Similarly, all learners in boarding schools will be expected to be back to school from the half-term break on June 30, 2024.

Half-term change

“The change may require adjustments on planned activities and schedules. You are therefore directed to communicate the content of this circular to all Head Teachers and Principals of schools under your jurisdiction,” Kipsang advised the education directors.

The changes were occasioned by the government’s decision to push forward the opening dates for schools from the initial April 29, 2024, to May 13, 2024, after massive floods affected many parts of the country.
