Government to launch mass COVID-19 vaccination programme ahead of Mashujaa Day

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe will today September 29 roll-out mass COVID-19 vaccination drive to target 5.8 million people with vaccine doses before Mashujaa Day.
Mashujaa Day is held on October 20 every year.
The CS will also launch plan that will see 10 million Kenyans get vaccinated by Christmas of 2021.
“The Kenya government targets to have 10 million vaccinations by December 2021 as a
key intervention in the COVID -19 response.
“This is in addition to other preventive
measures such as social distancing, hand hygiene and wearing a face mask,” he said.
As of Tuesday September 28, 3.8 million Kenyans had received at least one of the vaccine jabs.
Some 889, 000 Kenyans have been fully vaccinated, representing a 1.7 per cent of the whole population.
Kenya has so far received close to seven million COVID-19 vaccine doses that are being administered countrywide.
