Gor Mahia head coach Leo Neiva has announced his squad for the upcoming CAF Champions League opening match in Juba.

Among the players included is Harambee Stars attacker Austin Odhiambo, alongside new signings and promising Kenyan youngster Alphonce Omija.

The squad also features new players such as Chris Akena, Gedeon Bendeka, and Samuel Kapen. However, Rooney Onyango, Gad Mathews, and Benson Omalla, who has recently moved to Lebanon, have been left out.

To prepare for the match, Gor Mahia played two friendly matches against Tanzania’s Fountain Gate, winning both by a narrow margin of one goal.

These friendlies were organized following the cancellation of the 2024/25 season curtain-raiser match between Gor Mahia and Police FC, which was called off due to the unavailability of a suitable venue.

The FKF Shield Cup showdown was initially scheduled for Sunday, August 11, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Gor Mahia’s final friendlies

With the friendlies behind them, Gor Mahia is now focused on their CAF Champions League clash against El Merreikh Bentiu of South Sudan, set to take place in Juba on August 18, with the return leg scheduled for six days later.

A successful outing could see them advance to face Egyptian giants and defending champions Al Ahly in the next round.
