The Kenya Kwanza presidential campaign team will on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, hold a series of rallies in various parts of the country to drum up support for Deputy President William Ruto.

Ruto has lined up a series of rallies in Marsabit County to woo residents to support his presidential bid.

The presidential hopeful will begin his two-day visit to the North Eastern county with a rally in Moyale constituency before proceeding to Marsabit town.

Ruto will be accompanied by a host of his allies from the region, which is now perceived as a Raila Odinga stronghold.

On Thursday, July 7, the Kenya Kwanza presidential flagbearer will take their vote hunting mission to Laisamis constituency before proceeding to North Horr constituency.

At the same time, the DP’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua will hold separate rallies in Laikipia to rally the county that forms part of the vote-rich Mt Kenya region behind Ruto.

Gachagua will kick off the Kenya Kwanza campaigns with a stopover in Oljabet town and then address several rallies in Sipili, Kinamba, Matuiki, Githima before culminating the tour in Kiamariga.

Gachagua will be accompanied by, among others, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, MPs Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu).

Ruto’s Azimio One Kenya coalition rival, Raila, and his running mate Martha Karua are expected to storm Kiambu County on Wednesday.

The duo is expected to address a gathering in Gatundu which is the home of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has endorsed Raila for the presidency.

Kiambu county is the most populous of all counties that make up the Mt. Kenya region. According to voter details published by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Central Kenya which is home to five counties has a total of 3.1 million voters.

The region overwhelmingly voted for Uhuru and late President Mwai Kibaki in previous elections where Raila faced off with the duo.
