‘The CSs appointments that my boss Ruto got right is Ababu’s docket’ – Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday heaped praise on Youths and Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba for his continuous efforts to improve the country’s sports sector.

Addressing a crowd during the flagging of the the 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Gachagua lauded President William Ruto over Ababu’s appointment saying it was the one appointment he (Ruto) got right.

The DP also lauded the Principal Secretaries (PSs) working with CS Namwamba for their continuous efforts to promote the country’s sports industry.

“I want to say from the bottom of my heart that if there is one appointment that my boss President William Ruto got right spot on, it is the one for Ababu Namwamba as a CS for Youth and sports and in addition our two PSs who have been hardworking,” Gachagua said.

Earlier today, President William Ruto flagged off the three-day rally which will be held at Loldia Ranch in Ndulele Conservancy, Naivasha.

Speaking during the flagging, Ruto asked Kenyans to turn up in numbers and enjoy the event which he described as a special Easter holiday gift to families.

“This is truly a special Easter holiday gift to millions of families to bond over a thrilling spectacle. You really can’t find a rally as tough, compelling, beautiful and rewarding as the one in Kenya,” Ruto said.

He also asked CS Namwamba and other event organisers to extend the days to five days as requested by the drivers.

Ruto also appreciated FIA for returning the event to Kenya.

“Ababu Namwamba and your team, FIA and WRC, I think it is time you consider the request of our rally drivers,” Ruto said.

The rally which officially started today featured a lineup of 29 drivers.
