Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he held a private conversation with Brigadier General Paul W. Tibbets IV, the grandson of President Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States, who served from 1945 to 1953.

Taking to his official X account on the night of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Gachagua stated that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the “Peace Through Strength: Nuclear Weapons 80 Years Since Hiroshima and Nagasaki Conference” held in Missouri, USA.

Tibbets IV serves as Deputy Commander of the Air Force Global Strike Command and Deputy Commander of Air Forces Strategic-Air under the U.S. Strategic Command.

“I had a tête-à-tête with the grandson of President Harry Truman, the 33rd President of the USA (1945-1953), Brig. Gen. Paul W. Tibbets IV, the Deputy Commander, Air Force Global Strike Command and Deputy Commander, Air Forces Strategic-Air, U.S. Strategic Command. This was after attending the ‘Peace Through Strength: Nuclear Weapons 80 Years Since Hiroshima and Nagasaki Conference’ in Missouri today,” Gachagua stated.

Truman Library and Museum tour

Gachagua had earlier toured the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri.

In a statement shared via his X account on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Gachagua said the museum visit gave him a moment to reflect on the legacy of one of America’s most influential leaders.

“This morning, in Missouri, we visited the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum, to a great resource for an incredible story of the 33rd President of the USA (1945 to 1953),” Gachagua said.

Gachagua on Truman’s leadership

He praised Truman’s leadership during difficult times, noting how the American president helped steer the country’s economy through the transition from war to peace and fought for civil rights.

“President Truman led the American economy in tough times from WarTime to PeaceTime and strongly advanced African-American civil rights and ranked by historians among America’s best Presidents,” he said.

Gachagua described the library as an inspiring place for anyone interested in leadership and history.

“His life and legacy point to an ideal American patriot who served his nation with dedication and truthfulness. An informative, inspirational, educative space is the Truman Library’s Presidential Library to the world,” he stated.
