Gachagua formula is divisive, says activist

A Human Rights Activist in Kisii county has opposed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s formula of one-man-one shilling-one vote formula of sharing resources, terming it unworkable.

Rachel Otundo, Gusii Governance Watch Civil Society Organisation organisation said if adopted, it will divide Kenyans.

The official said the constitution allows national resources to be shared equitably to all areas regardless of the population to foster fairness.

She said the sharing of resources depends on land, poverty index and population, noting the current formula of sharing the national cake should remain.

“During census, members of some communities go back to their communities to be counted and yet they enjoy services in other areas with relatively low populations” Otundo said.
