The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will hold its party nominations on Saturday, September 20, 2025, covering several constituencies, wards, and a senatorial seat. This comes ahead of the by-elections set for November 27, 2025, as gazetted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The party has listed six constituencies where members will head to the ballot to select their flag bearers.

  1. Banissa in Mandera County

  3. Magarini in Kilifi
  4. Malava in Kakamega

  6. Ugunja in Siaya

County

At the county level, Baringo residents will participate in nominations for the senatorial seat. The race is expected to draw intense competition given Baringo’s history of political rivalries and its symbolic importance in national politics.

According to the UDA National Elections Board, aspirants were required to submit applications via the party’s online portal by September 5, 2025.

Nomination fees were set at Ksh50,000 for MCA aspirants and Ksh250,000 for parliamentary and senatorial hopefuls. Women, youth, and persons with disabilities paid half these amounts. The board has maintained that the process will be free, fair, and transparent.

Campaigns for the by-elections will begin on October 8, 2025 and run until November 24, 2025, giving successful UDA nominees just over two months to make their case to voters.

With strong opposition parties expected to field candidates in many of the same areas, the nominations will be a critical first step in shaping the contests ahead.
