Fulfil pledges to youth, party leader tells Ruto
The Green Congress of Kenya Party (GCK) has asked President William Ruto to fulfil pledges he made to the youth when campaigning to be elected as president.
GCK Party Leader Hillary Alila (pictured) yesterday said problems affecting the youth such as unemployment and drug abuse have not fully been addressed and can no longer be swept under the carpet. Speaking after announcing a countrywide programme targeting young people, Alila said creation of opportunities for the youth will lower cost of living which is currently burdening Kenyans.
“For Kenyans to appreciate efforts made by the government to improve the economy, the president should renew his commitment in fulfilling pledges he made to the youth because young people are the backbone of the country,” said Alila.
High cost of living
Alila wants the Kenya Kwanza administration to prioritise on lowering the high cost of living and to offer a rapid solution to the unemployment problem which is affecting young people mostly,” said Alila.
He argued that the current taxes in the country are overburdening and making Kenyans feel disillusioned. He urged the government to reduce taxes because the high cost of living has affected productivity of businesses and earnings of salaried Kenyans.
Alila said the GCK party is not confined by rigid ideologies or partisan boundaries, instead, he added that the party is defined by the determination of the members to put the interests of the citizens first.
