When did your interest in fashion start?

While in primary school, I loved reading newspapers and would normally reread the fashion pages and magazine style spreads.

It was so interesting to see how different outfits would communicate different things. As I grew older, I started seeing how these newspaper fashion tips could come in handy.

I could spruce up a normal T-shirt and jeans by simply throwing on a colourful scarf.

My interest in fashion has grown from level to level, through various stages of life and experimentation. I cannot wait to see where it all takes me.

What do fashion and image mean to you?

They influence how people perceive you. And perception is a really powerful tool that can sway even a job promotion according to research.

Sloppy dressers are often viewed as inept despite being smart. It is, therefore, important not to downplay the importance of fashion and image.

I am especially keen on my fashion choices and what I project every day.

How can you describe your fashion style?

Street with a touch of chicness. I think streetwear gets a bad rap with many believing that it cannot be sophisticated.

I believe it can. In fact, I am proof it can.  And of course, my style is something that has evolved over time; I would be disappointed if it did not change with my changing body, tastes, and exposure.

Where do you get your style inspiration?

Everywhere. Day-to-day interactions, social media; inspiration is everywhere. You just have to be open to it.

Do you have a signature look?

I think everyone does even though they may not call it that. For me, it is bodycon tops and jeans.

I find that fitting jeans and tops frame my petite body best. If you flip a coin you will probably find me lounging or out on errands in a bodycon top and jeans.

What role do photoshoots play in content creation today?

Photoshoots are one way of injecting professionalism into your social media page or your content creation journey.

For anyone looking to start creating great and professional content, you can book a photoshoot where you take photos that you can release over time online.

Which is the best fashion item that you own?

Heels. I have this pair of strappy heels that go with everything whether it is jeans or a dress.

It can elevate any dress to chic status in seconds. It is the equivalent of Cinderella’s glass slipper; it turns a dowdy outfit to princess status at any time.

One item that should be a wardrobe staple…

The ‘Little Black Dress’. It’s very versatile. It may sound cliché, but it is the truth. It just takes the hustle out of dressing up no matter where you are going.

Which Kenyan fashion brands do you like?

I have so many. I think social media has made it easier for businesses to grow and reach more customers.

I shop mostly online and normally pick outfits according to how the items look. Of late, I have been liking the new designs that Zia Africa is putting out.

How does scent impact image?

Scent is an important component of image. People who smell good tend to live a better and lasting impression compared to those who do not.

Just like fashion, I think experimentation is the only way to find out which scent works for you.

For me, it has to be Carolina Herrera for now. Her scents are chic and feminine. I am currently very fond of ‘Good Girl.’

Which style icons do you look up to?

Locally, it’s Joy Kendi, while internationally, it has to be Erica Page.
