Four in MP’s convoy perish in road crash

Four people were feared dead following a grisly road accident in Lungalunga, Kwale county yesterday.

The four who were in Lungalunga MP Khatib Mwashetani’s campaign convoy included two security guards, a driver and a media coordinator. The convoy was heading to Kanana for the MP’s campaigns.

Lungalunga deputy County commissioner Joseph Sawe said the accident was caused by a tyre burst.

“The vehicles were being driven at a high speed heading to Kanana when one of them had a tyre burst and rolled severally,” Sawe said.

“Bodies of the deceased have been taken to Msambweni Referral Hospital mortuary,” he said.

The police identified those who died on the spot as, Gilbert Karisa, Mwakupha Ndegwa and Mwanamisi Malumbo. The other two who sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital were Siamini Bonzo and Sadiki Ndoro.

The dead bodies were taken to Msambweni hospital. The accident come barely two weeks when 20 people lost their lives in Samburu along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway and one at Kombani on the Mombasa-Lunga-Lunga highway road accidents.
