Former Harambee Stars legendary defender Zablon Amanaka is dead

Former Kenya international Zablon Amanaka has been found dead in his Mwiki home.

The defender who served as Harambee Stars captain during his primetime was found dead in his house in Maji Mazuri area on Friday, May 28.

His death has definitely shocked Kenyan football community with tributes trickling in. Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Sofafapaka is among the first clubs to pay tribute to the fallen hero.

In its condolence message, the club has recalled how Amanaka was talented and passionate about football.

“Our deepest condolences to family and friends of the late Zablon Amanaka. During his stay at the club, Amanaka served us diligently and passionately, indeed the sporting fraternity has lost a true icon,” the club wrote on social media.

Other notable clubs Amanaka featured for before retiring from the sport include Tusker (formerly Kenya Breweries), Thika United, AFC Leopards and Mahakama.
