Former EALA MP Simon Mbugua lands state job
Former East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Simon Mbugua has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Policyholders
Compensation Fund.
Mbugua takes over from Victor Pratt whose appointment has been revoked.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 179 (4) (a) of the Insurance Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the
Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— Under paragraph (a)— Simon Mbugua – Chairperson, under paragraph (g)—
Tiberious Shikuku to be members of the Board of Directors of the Policyholders
Compensation Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th May, 2023.
“The appointment of Victor Pratt and Reuben
Ndegwa are revoked,” a gazette notice signed by National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndungu read in part.
Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was also appointed as the new chairperson for the Kenya Water Towers Agency.
In a Gazette notice dated May 18, 2023, President William Ruto appointed Echesa to serve as the chairman for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Paragraph 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Order, 2012, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Rashid Echesa to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three years, with effect from the 19th May 2023,” the notice read in part.
Consequently, former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointee L. Arch. Robert M. Kariuki has been dropped from the position.
Environment cabinet secretary Soipan Tuya has also appointed Elisha Busienei and Michael Waititu Maina as board members.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Paragraph 6 (1) (g) of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Order, 2012, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry appoints to be members of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three years, with effect from the 19th May, 2023,” Tuya said in a gazette notice.
