Residents of lower Namanjalala are fearing for their lives after River Sabwani  broke its banks and submerged their houses.

Trans Nzoia County Assembly Minority Leader Emmanuel Waswa Simiyu said a 16-year-old Form Four candidate Moses Wafula from Marinda Village had drowned while following the family livestock and the body was found on Monday morning, 76 hours after the incident.

Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi said close to 400 families have been displaced by the raging waters which have affected all homes in the villages of Namanjalala, Marinda, Kapsitwet, Maridadi,  Bosnia, Lower Bidii  and Soymining.

According to the MP, the residents who have been displaced by the floods are in dire need of humanitarian support including alternative resettlement.
